Burton Elrod, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Brentwood Surgery Center, serving patients in Brentwood, Tennessee. He is experienced in performing arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, and elbow.

A native of Centerville, Tennessee, Dr. Elrod attended Lipscomb University for his undergraduate degree and received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. After completing his orthopedic residency at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Elrod continued his post-graduate studies in sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation. Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Elrod holds memberships in numerous professional societies, including the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.

Dr. Elrod’s specialties include sports-related injuries and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, and elbow. Dr. Elrod has been an NFL physician for 19 years and is a team physician for Lipscomb University and Lipscomb Academy. He has authored many scientific articles and book chapters. In addition, he has served as a master clinical instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Dr. Elrod has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor from 2014-2020. During his spare time, Dr. Elrod enjoys running, racquetball, driving race cars, snow skiing, scuba diving, diving with sharks, listening to music, and spending time with his family.
